DNA Requirements GIS usually requests approximately 100 micrograms of non-degraded, relatively pure DNA in 100 ul Tris, pH 8.5. In some species, that amount of DNA may not be obtained easily, and smaller amounts may have to be used. Contact GIS to discuss what might be needed for your species. We have also found it to be helpful, and to expedite library preparation, if the customer can confirm that the DNA can be readily digested with restriction enzymes before sending it to GIS.
